Do I really need to make a will?
The most important reason for making a will is that it enables you to control who gets your property after your death. If you donâ€t make a will, your estate will be distributed under fixed rules of law; so it may not benefit the people you want it to most. A valid will can also be helpful to avoid family arguments and bad feeling at a particularly difficult time.
Can Rice-Jones help to carry out the terms of the will?
The person who carries out the terms of your will is known as the executor. You may also wish to appoint more than one executor. They may be family or friends or you may wish to appoint your accountant or solicitor. We can offer this service and will be happy to discuss this with you.
What happens if I change my mind about part of the will?
Your circumstances may well change after your will has been drawn up. The most obvious example is if you divorce. This would affect your existing will and you would need to create a new one. Whenever there are important changes in your life, it it necessary to consider how your will may be affected.
